Raised £26,700 for HelpforHeroes

On 19th June 2010 xrv.org.uk marathon riders, Team XRV, left Ness Point in Lowestoft, the furthest easterly point on the UK mainland, to travel to Garraun Point, on the Dingle Peninsular, the furthest westerly point in Ireland… aiming to arrive before sunset.
Our target was to raise £25,000 for HELP for HEROES, the charity that supports our injured service men and women.
Punctures, shredded tyres, collisions with pigeons, bizarre navigation, missed ferries and unlit country lanes made this one of the most enjoyable, challenging and fun TheLongestDay events so far. All riders made it safely there and back, rising to the challenge, one guy even completing the event on a 125cc bike. Now that’s HARDCORE! Some extended their time in Ireland to enjoy the awesome country lanes and roads around Kerry – others made a marathon dash back to Dublin to get the ferry next morning. But all without exception had an event that will live long in the memory, capped with the knowledge they’ve helped raise almost £25,000 for HelpforHeroes.
